This Level 6 NVQ Diploma is a work-based qualification, meaning that we will send an Assessor to your place of work to observe you carrying out your regular work duties.

The knowledge aspect of your role will be assessed either by written questions and answers, or a professional discussion, or a combination of the two.

It is designed to assess occupational competence in the workplace where learners have managerial responsibilities, technical skills and knowledge at a level required by the construction industry for their position. These should be across a broad range of activities with a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy.

This qualification is appropriate for employees in the Construction and the Built Environment sector working across a broad range of areas (Demolition, Residential, Building & Civil Engineering, Highways Maintenance & Repair, and Conservation).

It is designed to assess occupational competence in the workplace where learners have managerial responsibilities, technical skills and knowledge at a level required by the construction industry for their position. These should be across a broad range of activities with a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy.

In order to achieve the qualification you must achieve a minimum of 190 credits. This is made up of 17 mandatory units totaling 175 credits, plus 2 optional units.

QUC884 – CSM – Residential Development

To complete the qualification you will be expected to be add the following to your portfolio of evidence:

  • CV
  • Training certificates
  • Evidence of tool box talks delivered by yourself to the team (include talk material and signed attendance sheets)
  • Evidence that you have delivered inductions to your teams
  • Minutes of any meetings you attend or chair
  • Copies of the different types of safety inspections you undertake including PUWER, scaffolding, safety tours, etc…
  • Any permits that have been issued by yourself
  • Contract programmes compiled by yourself
  • Example of your contract drawings and specification that you are referring to
  • Requests for information from designers, architects, etc.
  • Evidence of how you procure materials, plant and labour
  • How do you monitor progress on your projects (programmes marked up, minutes of meetings, etc)
  • Any problems that you have dealt with suppliers on (damages, faulty or incorrect items, late delivery, etc)
  • Evidence that you check the dimensional accuracy of the works
  • Quality inspections that you undertake along with contract handover sheets etc
  • Labour plant and materials returns completed by yourselves
  • Construction Phase plans written by yourself
  • Environmental Plans written by yourself and inspections
  • Quality plan written by yourself
  • Site traffic management plan
  • Waste management returns
  • Annual company performance review / company training matrix with yourself listed

Unfortunately this qualification is not currently eligible for government funding.
